COOL TOOLS: Google Docs > FTP?

Last week Google quietly mentioned an interesting upgrade to Google Docs:

“We’re happy to announce that over the next few weeks we will be rolling out the ability to upload, store and organize any type of file in Google Docs. With this change, you’ll be able to upload and access your files from any computer — all you need is an Internet connection.” [read entire post here]

What are the implications here? Well, when coupled with their recent folder sharing upgrade, it begins to smell like a possible FTP replacement. Not to mention being a far more collaborative solution for artists/writers/inkers/colourists/letterers/etc… Now, of course, the basic/free level only allows for 1GB of non-Google formatted material but their $0.25 per additional gig (per year) pricing means you could conceivably get 300GB of storage for $75 a year. Sure there are external hard drives for that but can you access it anywhere any time? Is the HD as open to other hands as this?

Not a Google cheerleader… but this merits more than a little rah-rah from us indie creative types.

So after signing with an agent, work on both 9 Months and Bloody Pulp is back in full swing with the goal of having both books completed and printed for the New Year.

And their film treatments finished by month’s end.

The Revolution Will NOT Be Zuda-ized

The Zuda July results are in and Bloody Pulp came up short. No worries. Things are what they are. No complaints from us. Jeff McComsey and I are incredibly fortunate to have been on the receiving end of tons of support from friends, family, colleagues and FANS. Thank you, guys. Thank you.

So that brings the Zuda chapter to an end. But Bloody Pulp still has miles and miles to go.

You see… since the news came out, we’ve been on the phone. A lot. Seems there quite a bit of interest in a certain violent property.

Yep. More final week guest art love for Bloody Pulp. Can’t remember when I first actually met Brandon J Carr… Baltimore? LA? The Men’s Warehouse? Doesn’t make a difference. All that matters is that the bromance was instantaneous. To quote many a Match.Com damsel “I love a man who can make me laugh” and whether it’s his Twitter feed, his blog or the collaborative essays with David Garcia on These Stories Are True (NSFW to the extreme)– Brandon’s razor sharp take on most things in life has me in tears.

Doesn’t hurt that he’s also pencil sexy. And when you combine the two, well, you get something like… Li’l Pulpy.

GUEST PULP: Darrin Stephens

And the hits just keep coming! With less than 5 full days left to Zuda July, Bloody Pulp continues to pull in support from everywhere. Got this gem from Darrin Stephens and had to share. Darrin and Jorge have been working together for almost 6 years now on projects like Zoo and Kaeru-Boy. Last year the two joined forces to create KIDKONG ENTERTAINMENT, a family friendly brand that produces everything from comics, to clothing, to games.

But, every once in a while, Darrin likes to get in touch with his darker, pulpier side… we appreciate that, Nebraska.
